Saturday was my first Portobello West Market! It was great to be part of the first market in their new location at Yaletown Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre.
I'm a little embarrassed to admit, that while I've been in Vancouver for five years, I've never been there before! The space was great - nice high ceilings, with exposed beams, and not too big. Perfect for a market.
I still consider myself a market newbie; Saturday was my third market. With each market, I am blown away by how friendly and welcoming everyone is. As someone who is new and learning (and failing a lot), It's great to chat to "well-seasoned" vendors and feel part of the vendor community.
The staff and volunteers were amazing - THANK YOU! The DJ was playing tunes that had the energy pumping all day.
I was enjoying myself so much, I completely forgot to take photos! Rookie mistake. I'm working on adding more visual content to my blog posts, as they are a little lacking. Stay tuned! I promise there will be more pictures soon.
To wrap up, I wanted to highlight a few of my favourite vendors on Saturday. There was an amazing array of talented people, but these nine caught my eye:
Emilie Jayne - Wonderful water colour art prints.
Luli Designs - Louisa creates quality and unique jewelry designs.
Schmear Naturals - 100% Plant-based skincare.
Hart and Stone - Minimalistic, geometric cut designs. All handmade.
Solasta Chocolate - I mean, who doesn't love chocolate?
G&T Designs - Screen-printed textiles. Flamingo print is hands-down my fav.
Matangi - Stunning, PlantDyed, Eco-Aware Clothing and Textiles.
Revol Girl - "Period Proof underwear for menstruating badasses". Love it!
Mind the Minimal - Beautiful handcrafted concrete goods.
